ABOUT THE CLOTHES

Each piece of clothing has been hand picked, professionally cleaned and checked thoroughly. Great care has been taken to make sure every hem is mended properly, every zipper is in tact and every button is secure. I want each person to receive the highest quality garment possible, you should expect the very best!

Please remember all items are vintage unless stated otherwise and have been loved by a previous owner. Some of the items are decades old and may have very slight wear or discoloration, but nothing that will effect the overall look of the garment. Personally I believe it adds a bit of character and I love that every garment has a history and a life of it's own. I take great measures to make sure that every piece is in Excellent to Mint condition and I will not sell a garment otherwise.

Many people such as myself enjoy collecting even though the item may never be worn. Hippie Couture items are all collector worthy! I even had a customer suggest framing a psychedelic skirt to showcase it as a piece of art.

I believe everyone should have those certain items in their closet that they put on and instantly feel special. That is my desire for each person who wears a Hippie Couture garment. I hope you will enjoy these pieces as much as I do!

ABOUT CARA MIA

I started buying vintage clothes when I was 15. Being the “slightly” rebellious kid that I was, I wanted a look that was different than everyone else.  Often I would alter the items by adding pins or sewing them a different way to make them even more unique.

One day as I was scouring a local consignment store for a vintage gem, I surveyed the clothes I had picked and saw that most of the items were things that I loved, but they weren’t for me. It was then I realized that I was shopping for other people. I didn’t know exactly who at the time, but I continued to collect things that I believed others would enjoy.

I’m always drawn to bright colors and psychedelic patterns which have been the theme of my collection for many years. Several of the garments are straight from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, which are my favorite time periods, with a few 80's pieces mixed in. They have been handpicked with love from San Francisco, to Manhattan, to Miami and everywhere in between, and range from designer couture, to clothes that could have been worn at Woodstock. I love the idea of mixing classic vintage with newer pieces for a modern bohemian look!

Fashion is an extension of who I am and where I've been. In the past 10 years I have traveled extensively, co-owned a night club / art gallery and a small indie record label, worked on various film sets, met celebrities, and had the privilege of spinning fierce records along side of some of the best DJ's I know. It sounds glamorous but it has not been without trials. I will say however that surviving the trials can make the victories that much sweeter.

I am married to my best friend Mike and we have 2 awesome dogs. After living in Manhattan and South Beach we decided to move to a town in Coastal North Carolina and use that as our home base. It's a slower pace but the beach is amazing and NYC is always just a plane ride away.

No matter what your dreams are, I believe if you continue to relentlessly pursue them, they will come to pass......don't give up!
